Advance Practice Nursing Position Description Before I began graduate school to become a nurse practitioner, I did not know exactly what field I wanted to go into. I hoped that during my rotations, I would fall in love with a particular area. The problem was, however, that I thoroughly enjoyed all of my rotations. As a Nurse Practitioner, I envision myself working in a Dermatology or a Primary Care setting. In order to attain this position, I will complete my practicum rotations in Primary Care and in a Dermatology clinic. Also, I will participate in the National Academy of Dermatology Nurse Practitoners conference in May. Here I will refine my skills in diagnostics, skin surgery, laser resurfacing, and Botox administration. As a family nurse practitioner, I will be certified to see adults and children. My appreciation for pediatric health care grew tremendously during my pediatric rotation. In the area of Dermatology, I hope to treat all age groups. In Primary Care, I would eagerly accept a family practice where I could see children. While attending graduate school, I have worked night shift for three years. I am extremely flexible regarding hours and scheduling. I am willing to work nights and/or weekends, and I would also be willing to take call. I feel very enthusiastic about my new role as a nurse practitioner. My optimism and commitment to health care will benefit my new employer as well as the field of nursing. I am dedicated to advancing the field through research and judicious practice, and I look forward to building relationships with patients and fellow providers. The expectations in this field are high, but none are as high as the ones I set for myself.
